MEME Winnipeg 2027: June 11 and 12, Tickets and Venues
The Manitoba Electronic Music Exhibition, which nobody in this city calls anything but MEME, has posted its next dates: June 11 and 12, 2027. Two days, not the three that the 2026 edition ran from June 4 to 6, so if you are booking a trip around it, book tight. We get asked about this one more than its size would suggest, usually by people who have found the festival's own site and want to know what the weekend actually looks like from the ground.
Here is what we tell them.
The free part is the part we send people to first
MEMETIC, the volunteer-run outfit behind the festival, has kept one thing constant since MEME started in 2010: the outdoor concerts at the Cube, in Old Market Square, are free and nobody checks for a wristband. Old Market Square sits at 275 Bannatyne Avenue, in the middle of the Exchange District, and the Cube is the small open-air stage wrapped in aluminium links that you have probably seen in photographs of the Fringe.
One recent change is worth knowing if you have been before and remember the slope in front of the stage turning to mud. In October 2025 the city pulled up the grass there and laid turf. It drains. You can sit down on it the evening after a rain, which was not reliably true of the old lawn.
What plays at the Cube is not what a festival poster usually trains you to expect. MEME programs audio-visual work and the quieter, stranger end of electronic music alongside the dancefloor material, and the free outdoor slots are often where the odder bookings go. Bring something to sit on. Arrive without a plan.
What a pass is for
The indoor shows and the after-parties are the ticketed half of the festival, and they are the half that sells out, because the rooms are small by design. Passes for 2027 are already on sale; the festival calls the current tier super early bird and that tier does what the name suggests, which is disappear. Prices move between tiers, so we are not going to quote one here. The festival's own site, memetic.ca, carries the current price and the link to buy.
Venues get announced later than the dates do, and they move year to year. Past editions have put shows in the Manitoba Museum, the Winnipeg Art Gallery and Pantages Playhouse as well as the clubs, which is a large part of the festival's character: you end up inside a building you would never otherwise have a reason to enter at eleven at night. Do not book a hotel next to last year's venue on the assumption it will be this year's.
Dress for a Winnipeg June night rather than a June afternoon. The sun does not set until about 9:40 and the light holds past ten, which fools people into leaving a jacket behind; the temperature after midnight does not care. Between venues you will be walking a few blocks on Albert Street and Bannatyne Avenue, in the open, and the Exchange District's stone walls hold the cold.
Where to stay for MEME weekend
Our three-bedroom home is in Crescentwood, south of the Assiniboine. Portage and Main is nine minutes away by car, 3.9 km, and the Exchange District begins a few blocks north of that corner, so the festival's downtown footprint is close without you having to sleep inside it. That matters on a weekend where the music runs late.
Without a car, the BLUE rapid transit line is the one to learn. It runs from Osborne Village, a walk east of us, into downtown along Portage Avenue and Main Street. Fares are paid with a peggo card or in cash to the driver; the cash fare was $3.45 in 2026, and winnipegtransit.com lists the current one. If you are staying out for an after-party, look up the last departure on the Navigo trip planner before you go out, not at two in the morning on a dying phone.
Second weekend of June is also when the patio season is properly open on Corydon Avenue, a ten-minute walk south from our door, which is where we would send you for food before heading downtown. Rooms across the central neighbourhoods tighten once the summer festival calendar is published. Our Airbnb listing shows the dates that are still open.
Before you go: The lineup, the venue list and the set times for MEME 2027 are published closer to the festival, and pass prices change between tiers. Confirm both at memetic.ca.
